4 things you should know about before you bring your pet into Australia
If you intend to import animals into Australia you will need to ensure you comply with the Australian Government Department of Agriculture import conditions.
1. Cats and dogs from some countries need different preparations. You should determine whether your country of export fits into category 1, 2 or 3.
2. All cats and dogs must complete a minimum of 10 days in an Australian quarantine facility.
3. The International Air Transport Association does not recommend you sedate your cat or dog for transport as it can be dangerous.
4. You must ensure that the crate for your cat or dog travel is suitable. You should obtain an International Air Transport Association approved container.
